Stage of the wow moments, where your child begins to make sense all what she has learned, of her own world.
Your child:
- Can say 50 – 200 or more words.
- Has the ability to imitate 2-words together.
- Echos what she hears or mixes a few words with jargon.
Your child:
- Can imitate gestures and some basic actions.
- Has an attention span of 2 minutes.
- Can follow two-step instructions such as “Pick the knife and put it on the table.”
Your child:
- Enjoys company of others.
- Shows concern and affection for others without prompting.
- Expresses temper tantrums when not given approval.
Explorers
Stage of self-recognition, where your child takes more active role based on her understanding of the situations.
Your child:
- Has a vocabulary of 900 – 1,000 or more words.
- Can imitate words and phrases.
- Is able to give words to her emotions, though disjointed.
Your child:
- Is able to perform tasks with little supervision.
- Has an attention span of 5 to 10 minutes.
- Can follow three-step instructions.
Your child:
- Gradually likes engaging with classmates and siblings.
- Understands people’s physical state and tries to soothe sometimes.
- Enjoys helping with simple household tasks.
Creators
Stage of active involvement, where your child uses her knowledge to improve things and create her own world!
Your child:
- Has an expressive vocabulary of 2,100–2,200 words.
- Can imitate words and phrases and reads them independently.
- Can narrate an entire story such as experiences and learnings.
Your child:
- Is able to work independently without supervision.
- Has an attention span of 12 to 18 minutes.
- Understands a bit more complex instructions.
Your child:
- Feels more comfortable playing with age-mates.
- Always wants to make things right.
- Loves to help but prefers doing it independently.
